Iconic Lake Tekapo and the thrill of indoor sky diving in Queenstown.

Updated: Sep 25

We travelled to our next adventure 3 and a half hours away to Lake Tekapo. We were staying in a CCS house which made it a lot easier as it had a lot more room to manoevre my wheelchair and had a ramp up to the house.

On the 2rd day of being in lake Tekapo, we went to the iconic Mount Cook village that was 1 and a half hours away through magnificent scenery.

When we got to Mount Cook village I was disappointed that there were no cafes open - being New Year's Day, we were being very optimistic!)

We decided to climb the Hooker Track. Mum and Dad were both pushing me as there was a incredibly large hill that we had to negotiate. Although going down was better than going up. when we got to the top of the track the views were amazing. We were able to walk about 1 and a 1/2 Kilometers to the lookout - incredible. This was where the stairs begin so we couldn't venture further.

On the Monday after going to Mount Cook, we took a drive to Queenstown so that iIcould accomplish my dreams of going indoor sky diving. It took 3 and a half hours to drive to Queenstown ( once again I don't remember it as I was passed out in the back of the car )

When we got to I-fly there was disability car parking right outside the centre that they had put in especially for people with disabilities as they told us that were used to having people with disabilities come in to fly with them. We had to fill out a form which included the question had you ever had any back issues. This was good for me to know as it made me feel less nervous about flying with them. When we got inside we all had to get in to the suits they gave us. I was so excited at this point I was nearly jumping out of my skin. I did my breathing to calm down so I could get in to the suit. we had to go into a safety briefing room to talk about the risks and how it all works. I decided to go in first as I wanted to show my dad nothing would happen. ( He gets very nervous about new things as do I. I wonder where I get it from?)

The chamber where you fly is like a UFC cage but without the fighting and 240ph more wind.

it was the best adrenaline activity I have ever done.

Staff rating 10/10

Two staff members carried me into the dome where the flying takes places.

Accessibly rating 10/10

enjoyment rating 21/10

It was the best experience in the trip and because of that it got the best rating on the trip.
